Wedding, Baptism, and Memorial Services

Weddings

The service of Christian marriage is one of the most significant rites that a United Methodist minister conducts under the ordination and authority of the church.  In order for the service to maintain the significance it deserves, engaged couples are urged to make thorough preparations, including the spiritual preparations.

The ministers and staff at the Marcellus United Methodist Church’s wish to extend the help you need to you so that your wedding in our church will be a truly memorable, spiritual and meaningful celebration.  To inquire about celebrating your wedding at Marcellus United Methodist Church, please contact the church office at 673-3239.

Baptisms

Mark 1:8 states “I baptize you with water, but He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit.”

Baptism and Holy Communion are the two Sacraments of the United Methodist Church.  In the Sacrament of Baptism, words, actions, prayer and the physical element of water are combined to both express and convey God’s grace and love to share what God is doing in our lives, initiating us into the body of Christ.

At the Marcellus United Methodist Church, we welcome children and adults into the family of faith just as Jesus did. Baptism of a child is a commitment by the parents to raise the child in the life of the church and the Christian faith. During our Baptism liturgy, the entire congregation vows to love, encourage, walk with and embrace these children on their path to eternal life.

►Baptism is available for infants through adults in our church community.

►Contact the church office at 315-673-3239 to schedule a date.

Memorial Services

At the Marcellus United Methodist Church, when providing a family with the space to grieve their loss, a memorial service can give comfort through the resurrection of Jesus Christ. In the company of believers and the loving presence of God through worship, family and friends can find the renewal of Christian faith, hope and love to sustain them in time of grief.

The emphasis is in not only remembering the life of the loved one but also a celebration of God’s power over death through scripture readings, prayer and music.

Please call the church office as soon as you experience the death of a loved one for immediate spiritual care, prayer, and if you like, the presence of the Pastor. Please contact the church office at 673-3239.
